In Remembrance of Our Beloved
Zelodia “Zeke” Beckum
December 23, 1950 – October 1, 2026
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and proud United States Army Veteran
Zelodia “Zeke” Beckum was born on December 23, 1950, in Starkville, Mississippi, to the late James Beckum and Mary Harris. On Thursday, October 1, 2026, Zeke peacefully transitioned from this earthly life, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, memories, and stories that will continue to be cherished by all who knew him.
Zeke was a man who believed deeply in family. He cherished time spent surrounded by loved ones, especially during family gatherings where there was always a story to tell or lie, a memory to revisit, and his unmistakable, infectious laugh filling the room.
A Life of Service
On June 26, 1970, at the age of 18, Zeke answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam War era and proudly represented his country during a pivotal and challenging period in American history.
Zeke’s years in uniform were an important part of the man he became. His military service reflected courage, discipline, commitment, and a willingness to serve something greater than himself. After completing his service, he was honorably discharged on January 27, 1972, earning the distinction of being a Vietnam Veteran. He returned from service to his beloved late wife, Sandra Beckum, and son, LeMarcus Beckum.
A Man of Family, Work, and Memories
Following his military service, Zeke built a life centered around his family and his work. He established himself in the drywall construction industry, where he worked hard and provided for those he loved.
Zeke was married to his beloved wife, Linda Beckum, who remains to cherish his memory. Their life together was filled with family, shared experiences, laughter, and memories that will remain a treasured part of their family's story.
He was a loving father to LeMarcus Beckum (Dionne) and Zelodia “Nuke” Beckum, and a bonus father to Keith and Marcus Evans. His children were an important part of his life, and he took great pride in watching his family grow.
The Things Zeke Loved
If you knew Zeke, you knew his laugh.
His infectious laughter was one of the things people will remember most about him. He had a way of bringing life to a gathering and making people feel comfortable simply by being himself.
Zeke enjoyed family get-togethers, where he could sit back, visit with loved ones, tell stories and lies, and relive memories. He appreciated good company and never seemed to run short of something to talk about.
He also enjoyed going to the casino, watching old western movies and the Cincinnati Bengals. These simple pleasures were part of what made Zeke who he was—a man who knew how to enjoy life, appreciate his family, and create memories along the way.
He leaves behind more than photographs and possessions. He leaves behind stories that will be told again and again, laughter that will never be forgotten, and memories that will continue to bring his family together.
